Healthy and economical cooking [eBook]
8 de November, 2024
November 8th is the annual European Day of Healthy Food and Cooking. This date was launched by the European Commission with the aim of raising children’s awareness of the importance of maintaining a balanced diet and encouraging them to adopt healthier eating habits. Ultimately, the aim is to halt the growth of childhood obesity in Europe.
This is a purpose shared with the FOOD Program (Fighting Obesity through Offer and Demand), an initiative launched in 2009 by the Edenred Group with the support of the European Union and which, in Portugal, is developed in partnership with Direção Geral de Saúde. The program has two main objectives:
- Helping workers to make the best nutritional choices during their day-to-day work;
- Improving the nutritional quality of meals by promoting good practices in restaurants.
As adults become more aware of the need to adopt a healthier and more balanced diet, these habits and patterns can be instilled more consistently in the younger generation.
