Filipa Martins is currently the CEO of Edenred Portugal, a French multinational with a presence in 46 countries, and is among the small percentage of women who lead companies in Europe. She began her career as a consultant at A.T.Kearney and then spent 16 years at the portal SAPO, from where she ended up leaving as general director for the challenge she is now embracing. The CEO tells us that in her career, both academic and professional, she has never felt discriminated against for being a woman. However, she recognizes the issue of motherhood as the point of imbalance in Portugal. “The point that I think really slows down women’s careers in Portugal is the phase of motherhood. Above all, this is where the real imbalance of opportunities is felt, not only for women but also for employers. It is imperative to equalize the periods of maternity and paternity leave, so that it really doesn’t matter to employers whether they hire men or women,” she explained to Negócios.
