In addition to the regular activities of the resident Volunteer Group, every year Edenred dedicates a week to social responsibility.

During Idealweek, employees are invited to deepen their knowledge of sustainability, ESG and CSR and get involved in concrete actions.

The initiative culminates in Idealday, a day when Edenred employees all over the world take part in voluntary actions.

EDENRAID

Every year Edenred organizes Edenraid, a two-month sports and charity challenge:

  • Fundraising for a non-profit organization;
  • Encouraging sports and healthy lifestyle habits.

The action involves employees walking, running and cycling kilometers for Edenred to make a donation to a global NGO.

In the last edition, Edenred employees traveled 1.2 million km, which translated into a donation of more than 45,000 euros to Médecins Sans Frontières.

To minimize the environmental impact of its solutions, Edenred produces all its cards with alternative and more environmentally friendly materials, whether recycled or degradable PVC.

Degradable PVC, which is made up of 57% sea salt, has a special additive that makes it possible for cardboard to degrade up to 10 times faster in a natural environment. The material also has a 75% lower impact on global warming and is 55% less dependent on oil than other plastics.

What’s more, all the cards can be recycled again, promoting the circular economy.

Edenred Portugal is a member of Projeto Merece, a movement that aims to reduce the environmental impact of electronic cards by treating them in a more ecologically and responsible way.

As part of this project:

  • Edenred cards can be recycled and given a second life as street furniture;
  • For every kilo of waste collected, a tree is planted, with maintenance guaranteed for five years.
