Edenred joins Merece Project to recycle its cards

7 de February, 2023

Edenred Portugal has joined Merece Project, a movement that aims to reduce the environmental impact of electronic cards by treating them in an ecologically responsible way.

This is one of several initiatives included in our corporate social responsibility policy aimed at preserving the planet.

What can you do to get your Edenred card recycled?

If you have an Edenred card, you can help it to be recycled and given a second life.

When your card expires, all you have to do is insert it into an ATM and it will be retained. From there, the card will enter the Merece Project recycling circuit.

About Merece Project

The aim of this movement is to recycle as many cards with electronic components as possible. Once shredded, the waste is used to make street furniture such as park benches, tables, flower boxes and recycling bins, among others.

At the same time, the movement aims to offset the carbon emissions generated by the production of the cards by planting trees: for every kilo of waste collected, Projeto Merece plants a tree (with a five-year maintenance guarantee).

Environmental sustainability is a central concern for Edenred

Since its inception, the Edenred Group has been strongly committed to preserving the environment.

To this end, we strive to reduce our carbon footprint, resources consumed and waste, as well as making our solutions and services more environmentally friendly.

An example of this is the new Euroticket Refeição cards, which are now more environmentally friendly. Made of degradable PVC and composed of 57% sea salt, they enable faster degradation in a natural environment.

Give your Edenred card a second life. Because the planet deserves it!

Starting from July 2023, the Euroticket Refeição benefit has been renamed Edenred Refeição.
