How to support employees with children in this back-to-school season?
11 de August, 2023
For those with school-age children, back-to-school is a time of year when expenses multiply. You have to make sure they register, buy books, backpacks, school supplies and much more.
Since these costs can represent a large chunk of a family’s budget, companies can set up an extra-salary benefits policy to help their employees cover these expenses.
Discover the benefits you can offer your company to support employees with children this back-to-school season.
1 – Edenred Creche
Edenred Creche is a social benefit aimed at helping to cover the childhood expenses of children or dependents between the ages of 0 and 6 inclusive.
It provides tax savings for the company and greater liquidity for the employees who benefit from it, thanks to the associated tax advantages:
- Total exemption from TSU and a 40% increase in IRC for the company;
- Total exemption from TSU and IRS for the employee.
This benefit can be used in more than 3,200 participating establishments in Portugal, including nurseries, crèches, kindergartens and the like.
2 – Edenred Estudante
Edenred Estudante aims to help employees pay for the education of their children or dependents from the age of 7 or their own training costs. It can be used not only to pay tuition fees at schools, colleges and universities, but also to buy books and manuals, school materials and computer support for study, study and tutoring centers, language schools, etc.
This benefit is exempt from TSU for both the company and the employee and therefore provides greater liquidity for education and training expenses (compared to the allocation of the same amount in cash).
3 – Edenred Flexível
Edenred Flexível is a benefit which, like Edenred Estudante, can also be used for education and training expenses (the difference lies only in the format, which in this case is a card).
However, it can also be used more widely to pay for products and services in the areas of health and social support. For example, if employees need to buy glasses for their children, they can use this benefit at opticians.
By granting any of these extra salary benefits to your employees, they can also access Edenred’s Discounts and Advantages Program, which includes discounts on dozens of brands. Some of these are in the field of education and training – such as the Porto Editora Virtual School, Wall Street English and the British Council – which can also be useful for supporting and boosting the academic performance of your employees’ children.
