Overloaded on Easter almonds? It’s time to take care of yourself

26 de April, 2019

Easter is behind us, but do the consequences of excess still haunt you on a daily basis? If this year you overindulged on almonds and couldn’t resist the table full of sweets and delicacies at the family lunch, or if you spent the weekend away and couldn’t stop snacking, this text is for you.

Of all colors, I’m sure there were several bowls of almonds on your sweet table. Did you know that just 100g of almonds equals over 400 calories and 10 packets of sugar? We don’t want to scare you or make you feel guilty, but we can help you with that feeling of unease you’ve been experiencing over the last few days. After the excesses, it’s time to give your body some rest and get back on track with your diet. However, we stress that the aim is not to lose weight, but to detoxify the body.

Your body’s best friends

Cliché or not, we start by suggesting that you include a lot of liquids in your “diet”. When you wake up in the morning, what’s the first thing you do? Does it cost much to add a glass of water with a few drops of lemon to your routine, while still fasting? It seems like a small thing, but for your body it makes all the difference, as it helps to hydrate and eliminate the toxins caused by the many sweets you couldn’t resist. Abusing fruits and vegetables is also an excellent option, as is including a wide variety of fibers in your daily diet – wholemeal cookies, wholemeal bread, brown rice and cereals, for example. And if you’re one of those people who can’t do without dessert after lunch, you can always replace the usual slice of cake with watermelon, pineapple or orange with a square of dark chocolate. The idea is that you can adapt your meals to your body’s needs without having to give up the pleasure of eating.

Big post-Easter villains

In every diet there are foods that stand out and try to seduce us. In pastry shop windows, on supermarket shelves, or with words like “slim” or “light”, they’re always there winking at us. The secret, however, lies in the willpower we have to resist them. Think about how unwell you’ve been over the last few days and the wonders it will do for your body to say “no” to: sugar, honey, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, sausages, butter, fried foods and treats. “Count, weigh and measure” has always been the best advice, and in this case it’s no exception. Reducing red meat consumption for a few days and choosing fish, for example, is another tip that promises to make a difference. Throughout the day, try to drink between 1.5 and 2 liters of water. In the meantime, leave laziness at home: go to the gym, walk, break your routine and take the stairs instead of the convenient elevator. Combining sport with a healthy diet is fundamental to making your body feel better. Best of all, your Euroticket Refeição card can help you in this process. Take it to lunch, follow these tips and you’ll see that in a few days you’ll be feeling much better.

Starting from July 2023, the Euroticket Refeição benefit has been renamed Edenred Refeição.
