9 de July, 2019
Summer is finally here and with the first rays of sunshine we just want to go to the beach. Preparations start first thing in the morning and, if you have children with you, it’s even more difficult to leave the house. With a shovel and bucket on our backs, sunscreen 50 in our suitcase, towels for the whole family and a few changes of clothes for the little ones, all we have to do is prepare the cooler. After all, what should we take to eat on the beach?
Are you already on vacation and getting ready to spend the day at the beach with your family? Or are you looking forward to the weekend so you can enjoy the sun a little more? Either way, preparing for a day at the seaside is far from simple and, with children, leaving the house is even more difficult.
Between towels, sunscreen and bags full of toys, you still have to find space, and time, to prepare the cooler. Long gone are the years when spending a day at the beach meant several chests of food, lots of snacks and sometimes even pots, pans and jugs.
Even so, finding the ideal food is still no easy task. When it comes to preparing the cooler to enjoy the heat, it’s the fresh and quick solutions that come to mind. And very well! But can we eat quickly and healthily? Of course we can! We’ll help you find out what can’t be missing from your cooler.
What to eat on the beach?
This is the question on your mind first thing in the morning, when you start your exhaustive preparation for the beach. Two or three pieces of fruit seem like a logical decision. But the next thing you know, the packets of potato chips and sandwiches have taken their place. Don’t go on, turn back and let us help you put health back into your snack. Before we even focus on lunchtime, how about we start by adding some snacks in your bag?
Your first impulse was right, so let’s listen to it. Fruit is essential for a good beach meal. Whether it’s a box of cherries, peaches or watermelon, for example, it’s important to take several pieces to eat throughout the day.
And if you want to add color and flavor to your meals, carrot sticks with hummus are a great solution. Simple and fresh, it’s the ideal snack.
Essential to the diet and a great day at the beach are nuts and dried fruit. Take a mix of seeds, raisins, walnuts and almonds, for example, and avoid feeling hungry throughout the day.
As for the little ones, why not take some liquid yogurt and mini cheeses? They’ll delight the little ones and, as well as being practical, they’re healthy.
What about lunch?
Sandwiches are still the best seller for summer food, but they’re not always the healthiest option. After all, what can and should we have for lunch on the beach?
How about preparing some chicken or smoked salmon wraps with vegetables? Tasty and fresh, they add healthiness to your snack and leave you feeling light for the rest of the sunny day.
For the little ones, who will melt for a slice of pizza what do you think about preparing an option with wholemeal or sweet potato dough? Opt for fresh ingredients and take a delicious pizza to the seaside.
We said earlier that they’re often not the healthiest choice. But is it possible to turn traditional sandwiches into an excellent beach lunch? Yes, as long as you opt for wholemeal or dark bread, for example. And for the filling, poultry ham, vegetables and some fresh cheese should take center stage.
The same goes for salads, which also make a great beach lunch. With pasta, chicken, tuna, boiled egg and a variety of vegetables, you can get a meal full of nutrients and for all tastes. Now all that’s left to do is add plenty of water to the cooler because, when the heat is on, it’s essential to stay hydrated. With bags and snacks packed, everything seems ready to enjoy the sun by the sea. Follow these tips, eat full meals and be healthy.
It really is possible to go to the beach and eat well.
