5 Benefits that all companies should give their employees

2 de June, 2022

Running a business doesn’t (or shouldn’t) just mean meeting the needs and expectations of customers. You also need to keep your employees in mind. Like customers, employees also need to be involved and satisfied with your company. This satisfaction and motivation has a huge impact on the contribution they make and the results they produce.

That’s why guaranteeing a good employee experience should also be at the top of organizations’ priorities. And a large part of that good experience comes from the benefits that are given in addition to salary. Extrasalary benefits allow you to increase employee dedication and loyalty to your company, thus reducing absenteeism and turnover.

Although there is a wide variety of benefits that can be awarded – and which should be chosen according to the real needs and interests of the employees – there are some that all companies should consider. Want to know which ones? Come and discover them with us.

1 – Health insurance

Promoting the health and well-being of your employees should be a priority. And this can include ensuring that they have easier access to the healthcare they may need. Having health insurance is an element that many workers value. That’s why it’s one of the most widely recognized supplementary benefits. Providing health insurance is a differentiating factor when hiring new talent and also helps to reduce absenteeism and retain employees.

2 – Flexible working hours

This is another benefit that employees really value. And, very importantly, it doesn’t cost you anything. Everyone has a life outside of work, with commitments and unforeseen events that can sometimes interfere with working hours. If the job allows it, give employees the freedom and autonomy to manage their hours in line with these responsibilities. What’s more, productivity can increase when workers have more flexible hours, rather than the traditional 9am – 6pm.

3 – Bonuses based on performance

When employees meet expectations and achieve certain goals, they should be rewarded. Bonuses or productivity bonuses can be monthly, quarterly or annual. They are a good strategy for motivating employees and increasing their productivity. The model for awarding bonuses should be clear, so that each employee knows the results they need to achieve in order to receive them.

4 – Education/training support benefits

Investing in training for your employees is an excellent way of showing that you care about their personal and professional development. This can be done by providing specific training (related to their job, for example) or by awarding social vouchers to support education. These vouchers can then be used to support expenses for undergraduate, master’s, postgraduate, language courses or any other complementary training that employees are interested in attending. Some of these benefits, such as Euroticket Estudante, can be extended to employees’ children to pay for schools, ATLs, school and computer equipment and much more.

5 – Childcare benefits

Charges for crèches, nurseries, kindergartens and the like can represent a large chunk of the family budget. Therefore, providing childcare benefits can be a good way to improve your value proposition to your employees. There are examples of large companies that offer on-site crèches. Alternatively, there are social vouchers designed to pay for these early childhood expenses. This is the case with the Euroticket Creche, which employees can use to pay for children up to the age of 6. These benefits allow employees to maintain a balance between their personal and professional lives and also contribute to their satisfaction and motivation. Does your company not yet offer any of these benefits? Do you think they would be an asset in promoting employee motivation and involvement? Tell us all about it.

Starting from July 2023, Euroticket benefits have been renamed Edenred.
