After the vacations, come back in style!

17 de September, 2019

Have you just returned to work, but feel you need a few more days of vacation? Do you find it hard to remember the paradise beach or the historic city where you spent this summer and realize that it’s over? Don’t panic, getting back into the swing of things may seem difficult… but it’s not impossible. In this article, we’ll help you prepare for a great comeback!

Sun, beach, trips around the world and an envious tan… Have you just returned from vacation and the days are getting harder to bear? Do you look out of the window and imagine how good you’d look with your towel spread out on the sand? What if we told you that going back to work doesn’t have to be stressful?

Even if you leave the swimming and sunbathing behind, you can come back in a big way! Still don’t see how? In this article, we’ll help you get back on the right foot. Have you just come into the office, your inbox is full and even though it’s morning, you’re already exhausted? Calm down, take a deep breath and prioritize. To get back on track, the starting point can really be task planning.

With my schedule up to date, how can I make my return easier?

  • Have you had a meeting with your team? To get back on the right foot, it’s essential that you understand what happened in your absence. Before you even answer the thousands of emails, sit down with your colleagues and catch up on everything. Afterwards, divide up the work between everyone and see how much easier it is to follow up on new projects and ideas;
  • Look at your watch and leave on time: With your list of priorities made and your agenda well organized, it’s important to stick to the plan. In order to get back on track, it is essential to  start calmly and that, at the end of the day, you can still take some time for yourself. Try to leave on time and, when you get home, take the opportunity to watch another episode of your favorite series or read a few pages of the book you’re starting;
  • Take it easy, but don’t stop: Did you take advantage of your vacation to surf, run or swim? Then don’t lose your rhythm or that positive energy. To stay focused, physical activity is essential. Run outdoors, cycle, hike or go to the gym.

More convinced now? Follow these tips and feel ready to tackle the disorganized desk, the two-hour meetings and the new projects. And if it still seems difficult to get into the rhythm, try to make the most of your vacation.

While on vacation, you can rest, but you can’t switch off!

The rules for a fulfilling vacation are the same as always: Don’t look at your email, don’t answer your work phone unless there’s an emergency, sort out your worries before you start your well-deserved rest days and… don’t think about work. However, getting away from work and resting doesn’t mean you have to switch off completely. Have you thought about taking advantage of your vacation to do some training? Or to read a technical book in your field? Even if it seems like a bad idea at first, you can bet it’s not. Study, gain new knowledge and see how much easier it is to get back to work. However, don’t spend all your time on these tasks. It’s essential that you take the opportunity to spend time with your family, go to the beach and travel, for example. Put all these tips together, have a perfect vacation and return to work in style!

Step by step, feel more motivated and confident.
