5 Skills that will be valued in the job market in 2024

22 de December, 2023

The job market is constantly evolving, particularly thanks to rapid and uninterrupted technological advances.

In this context, it is expected that certain specialties and skills will become increasingly important within the different industries.

Discover with us five technical skills that will be valued on the job market in 2024.

1 – Data analysis

Companies are collecting more data than ever before: on the behavior and characteristics of their customers, on the performance of their products or services, on their competitors…

But this data is of little use if you don’t have the ability to analyze it, interpret it and use it as the basis for a wide range of decisions.

In this sense, people with data analysis profiles – data analysts, data scientists – are playing a very important role in organizations’ businesses.

2 – User experience

UX design, or design focused on user experience, aims to provide an intuitive and meaningful user experience on digital platforms such as websites or mobile applications, for example.

As technology becomes more and more sophisticated and enables the development of new functionalities and possibilities, the need for qualified UX designers becomes more pressing in companies from different sectors.

People with this profile are very important for understanding consumer behaviors and needs and designing ways to improve their experience.

3 – Cybersecurity

As businesses have become increasingly digital, the number of cyberthreats and cyberattacks has increased day by day. That’s why protecting organizations – their systems, their data and their customers’ data – is becoming urgent and paramount.

Companies have seen a growing need for qualified professionals who have experience in the field of information technology and who can help protect their digital assets and infrastructure.

4 – Cloud computing

Data storage in the “cloud” has emerged as an alternative to physical data storage centers and is naturally more economical, efficient and scalable.

The demand for professionals qualified in cloud applications, such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure, is expected to become increasingly relevant. These professionals can work in sectors as diverse as technology, financial services, health, etc.

5 – Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are already revolutionizing many industries today and are expected to continue to do so in an increasingly relevant way.

The ability to work with AI tools, and to capitalize on the added value it brings to optimize work processes and models, will be highly valued in 2024 and beyond.

Even so, it’s important to remember that although artificial intelligence has a very transformative potential, this doesn’t mean that it will replace flesh-and-blood professionals. The development of these technical skills does not exclude the power and value of the soft skills that only humans can have: emotional intelligence, creativity, collaboration, adaptability, etc.

If you currently work in a completely different sector, but would like to acquire skills in one of these areas, explore so-called retraining courses – such as those offered by Ironhack – and find out how they can help you.
