Remote work? Increase productivity
16 de April, 2020
Remote work was already on the world’s lips, but for many, working in this way is a novelty. At a time when the whole family is sharing the same space, staying focused and productive can be a real challenge. The truth is that it takes a lot of organization and management to get everything done at the end of the day.
Defining a workspace, sticking to the schedule, taking breaks and getting ready to start the day are some of the tips you should follow. However, for beginners or those who have experienced more difficulties in working from home, we leave you with some simple tips that promise to revolutionize the way you embrace this new practice!
1. Set your daily goals
This is a tip that applies even in the office! Before you start work, make a list of all the tasks you have to do that day. A good option is to organize them by priority. As you complete each task, tick or cross it off the list. And don’t forget: one thing at a time! When we try to deal with several things at once, dispersion causes us to lose focus.
2. Don’t ignore the agenda!
Once you’ve planned all the tasks for your day, you can start organizing your schedule and allocating them to specific times. Do the activities that require the most focus in the morning, you’ll be more productive! Everything that is less demanding should be done at times when your attention levels are lower, such as at the end of the day. So that you don’t get lost in the midst of so many hands, why not post a timetable on your wall or computer screen?
3. Prepare lunch in advance
When you weren’t at home office, did you usually pack a lunch? Or did you prefer to go to the restaurant? Whatever the case, it’s very unlikely that you used your lunch break to cook. Don’t waste the best break of the day cooking and tidying up the kitchen! Not only will you spend more time than you should, but you won’t be able to relax. The result? Less concentration when you get back to work. Plan your meals!
4. Stay away from social media!
When at remote work, the computer is our best friend, but make no mistake, this daily companion can also become your biggest distraction! One click and you’re done: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Whatsapp and, of course, plummeting productivity levels! We know it’s tempting, but try to discipline yourself and stay away from social media during working hours. Every time you lose yourself in a picture, a comment or a conversation, it’s the equivalent of a task carried out with less concentration and in which you’ve wasted more time than necessary.
5. Don’t lose touch with your colleagues!
Did you know that you don’t have to give up your interactions? Keep in touch with your coworkers, both to carry out the projects at hand and to relax a bit during your breaks. After all, you’re still a team and, as always, teams want to stick together! Why not make use of technology? Venture into a video call! Not only will you feel closer to your colleagues, but the conversations will be more fluid, productive and, of course, fun!
6. Leave the house alone!
It’s natural that when you spend more time at home, it gets dirty faster. And how can you ignore the washing machine that’s finished or the dishes that need tidying up? Well, let’s answer that with another question: how would you do the dishes or lay out the laundry if you were in the office? Don’t get lost in cleaning during the day and focus on the work that really needs to be done. All in good time! Feeling more focused now? Take advantage of all these tips to end the week in the best possible way. At home, of course!
